Have you had pain to the point where you felt like your life would never be the same or have some kind of diagnosis that changed the way that you lived your life? Instead of living your life too fast and letting pain and other things hold you down, figure out what you can do to have a better life. Maybe you need to slow down and maybe you need to realize that your self-care is important.

Self-care is something that isn’t for someone that is wimpy or someone that is selfish, but if you learn to care for yourself both in your body and your emotions, you will see that you can live a happy life. Stop letting anxiety and depression hold you back, stop letting your emotions control you.

Not taking care of yourself will eventually catch up to you and it will cause you to be at risk for sickness or for other problems in your body and mind.

Why Self-Care?

Self-care is important because it isn’t just taking care of yourself, it is improving your mind, body and soul and having overall wellness.

You cannot always be giving to others and not taking care of yourself. If you are sick or you are tired, you have to learn to take care of you, even if you have a family or friends that need you.

Self-care is doing whatever you need to so that you can have balance and so that you can have a healthy mind, body, and soul. This is finding your happiness and being successful in your life and in your relationships.

You need to learn to live your best life and to do whatever you can to be happy. Once you learn to do self-care, you will see that you can have overall wellness in your mind, emotions, body, and spirit.

Ways to Have Self-Care

Here are some things that you can do each day to take care of yourself. These are fast things you can embrace and put in your everyday life:

  • Eat healthy foods.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Talk or go to your doctor.
  • Be thankful.
  • Take vitamins.

Deep Breathing

Breathing will help to circulate oxygen through your body. This will give you energy.

Eat Healthy

Eat things that are good for you and make sure that you take time to have whole foods. Avoid foods that are fried, processed or full of sugar.

Drink Plenty of Water

Drink enough water for your body. More than half of your body is made of water. This is important for your mind, heart, body, lungs and more.

Get Enough Sleep

Make sure you are getting enough sleep to make you not tired. If you lack on something, don’t lack of sleep.

Take time to go to the doctor and have your regular appointments. If you have something wrong, go right away.

You need to love yourself and your life. You can do this by being thankful for what you have. This is one of the most powerful ways you can care for yourself.

Figure out what kind of vitamins you need to feel better. Take vitamins that you need and other supplements such as magnesium, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D or more.

Hug People

Hugging people will increase your love hormone, oxytocin, serotonin and will increase the immune system. It will also lower your blood pressure and make you feel better.

How are you taking care of your soul? Meditate, find something spiritual to do.

Be Creative

Learn to try new things. Let your life grow. Paint, play music, sing, dance, or something that is creative.

Be Your Real Self

Be who you are. Do not change for other people just because you want to be accepted. Find people that accept you for who you are.

Have Boundaries

Everyone should have boundaries in every relationship. Figure out where you are giving too much and set a boundary. It is okay to say no. Learn to know your limits and set your boundaries.

Get Away

Get away for a bit and recharge. Allow yourself some down time and take a break. Do this by watching movies and relaxing or going somewhere.

Be Kind to Yourself

Be patient and kind to yourself. Talk kindly to yourself and stop putting yourself down. Give yourself a pat on the back and stop being so critical.


Take care of yourself and stop making up excuses. Here are some common excuses people use:

  • Don’t have time. Start making time for things that are important in your life.
  • I don’t Need to Do That. Yes, you do. Taking care of yourself is important and you need to do that.
  • I am too tired. If you are tired, take a nap. This is part of self-care and will help you.
  • Its hard. Things are hard and will never be simple. Embrace them anyways.


Make sure that you are motivated and that you are getting rid of stress in your life. This will help you to feel healthy and help you to be motivated to do more things. Nothing will happen if you don’t try, and you don’t take action.


Self-care isn’t just about feeling good, but it is about taking care of yourself in your mind, body, and soul. It is taking what you have and giving your energy back. It is about being positive to yourself and avoiding stress and anxiety. It is about being happy.
