What can you do to build emotional resilience?

Emotional resilience is something that you either have or don’t have. It is something that can be practically developed. You have the power to transform how you react to challenges in your life.

  1. Let your mind be at peace

You risk letting your emotions get the best of you if you are the one who likes moving at the speed of light. Calm your mind through mindfulness and let your thoughts be more present.

You will not be carried away by fear or worry if you make this ritual an everyday practice.

Know that the main goal of meditation is to begin observing your thoughts and discovering that they are just thoughts that come and go and not to control your thoughts.

You will able to manage difficult situations when they come if you can find stillness in difficult situations.

  1. Acceptance

The first step to overcoming anything is acceptance. This is often one of the most difficult things for people to do. It takes courage to view reality and accept that things are not okay.

You may decide to go into fix mode when bad things happen. Nevertheless, this chance won’t be there for you immediately. At times you just have to sit and wait for whatever happens. When you accept it doesn’t mean that you are losing hope, it means you are surrendering to what is, so that you create room for what is coming.

  1. Be ready to look at your mess

Let’s not lie, it doesn’t feel good looking at your mess. It’s easier to just ignore uncomfortable situations or things. Nevertheless, if you do not give yourself the space to process difficult situations, they will just stay in your body and become toxic. Do not run away from discomfort the next time you find yourself in a difficult situation.  You should, however, embrace what you are going through and the lesson it’s trying to teach you.

  1. Prioritize self-care

Getting caught up with daily activities and forgetting about yourself is normal. But when it comes to resilience, self-care is essential. Self-care should be an everyday habit.

There is a connection between your emotional and physical health. Your body responds physically to how you think, that’s why it is very important for you to take care of your mind and body.

  1. Let positivity surround you

Be around positive people to avoid your energy from being brought down.

Negative energy is overwhelming. If you want to succeed in life, choose wisely who you become friends with.

Spend time with people who challenge and inspire you to be a better person. If you do so, you will know that there are good things in this world.

You will also be able to deal with challenges without worry.

  1. Ask for help

Support is everything when it comes to navigating your way through difficult times. At times it’s hard asking for help especially if you are someone who prefers facing challenges alone. Nevertheless, there are some situations that you will need someone to rely on.
